The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED teaches participants to provide first aid, perform CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively. Our Heartsaver Total course meets OSHA, United States Coast Guard, and regulatory requirements. The course reflects the most up to date science and education from the American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

What does this certification course teach?

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED teaches the lifesaving skills of first aid, CPR and AED including: First aid basics Medical emergencies Injury emergencies Environmental emergencies Preventing illness and injury Adult, Child, Infant CPR and AED use Choking help for an Adult, Child or Infant Drowning response and prevention Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies Instructor-led, in-classroom learning with hands-on practice

Who should take Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED?

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs an OSHA and/or U.S. Coast Guard-compliant course completion card—or anyone who simply wants to be ready to respond in an emergency. This certification is NOT for Healthcare Providers. Healthcare Providers need the Basic Life Support (BLS) certification course.

If a course is required for work, always make sure to check with your employer to ensure you are selecting the correct course.

100% in-classroom training means students are with an AHA Instructor for their entire learning experience. Upon completion of all course requirements, participants receive a Heartsaver Total – First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card which is valid for two years.

BOAT CAPTAINS & MERCHANT MARINES  The US Coast Guard (USCG) has approved the AHA’s Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED (Heartsaver Total) Course as meeting the USCG Elementary First Aid* training requirements of:

• Elementary First Aid per STCW Code Table A-VI/1-3;
• Elementary First Aid per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(3);
• The first aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1)

*All elective sections of Heartsaver First Aid with CPR AED (AMERHA-216) will be given.

We will provide this certificate to any maritime personnel that require the certificate to accompany their AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED course completion card upon successful completion of the course with all options completed and written exam.

Textbook: You must have an AHA Heartsaver Student Workbook or eBook for the class you are taking that is up to date with the current AHA guidelines being taught.
